Self Care Is Not Being Selfish

Live A More Fulfilling Life | Dawn Spiegelberg

Practicing Heart Coherence means taking care of yourself while also considering the needs of others. It's about finding a balance between Self Care and caring for those around you.

Allowing time for Self Care recognizes the importance of taking time for our Self and understanding that this practice benefits everyone in the long run.

Being Selfish on the other hand, means putting your own needs before anyone else's and without any consideration for the impact it may have on others.

Selfishness stems from an ego based desire for personal gain and gratification; it is often associated with being Self Centered and Narcissistic.

Some people feel guilty or ashamed for taking time out for themselves.

This can be especially true for Care Givers who may feel that they need to put the needs of their loved ones before their own.

When we are in Heart Coherence we shift from a Self Centered point of view to a Centered Self experience and we begin to realize that we are capable of taking care of others with more empathy.

Heart Coherence practitioners are in a better position to be of service to others and can even encourage them to prioritize their own Self Care program.

Together we can create a culture that recognizes the importance of Self Care and supports everyone who practices it.

Suggestions for creating a balance between Self Care and caring for others:

Set Boundaries

It's important to set boundaries and communicate your needs to others. Let them know when you need time for yourself and when you are available to help them.

Practice Self Compassion

Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a friend. Be gentle with yourself and recognize that it's okay to make mistakes.

Prioritize Self Care

Make Self Care a priority in your daily routine. This could mean taking a relaxing bath, going for a walk, or doing something that brings you joy.

Ask For Help

Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Reach out to friends, family, or professionals for support and assistance.

Practice Gratitude

Take time to appreciate the things you have in your life, and focus on the positive aspects of your situation. This can help you feel more content and fulfilled, which in turn can benefit those around you.

Heart Coherence creates a balance between caring for our Self and caring for others; while being Selfish is often at the expense of others.

Taking care of your Self is essential to experiencing a fulfilling and satisfying life, and it also benefits those around you.
